When should I start shopping?
Newly engaged and excited to start shopping but not sure how long things take? This is kind of a grey area- but we typically recommend shopping approximately 9-15 months before your wedding. Of course, you are welcome to buy your dress sooner, as long as you are content to stop shopping and move on to the next task! You can start shopping as soon as you want to- as long as you are ready to buy. Shopping months before you plan to buy can make the whole process even more challenging and overwhelming and there is definitely such thing as “over shopping”. Most wedding dresses will take around 6-12 months depending on the designer and your wedding date, but average is 8-10 months. Of course, the sooner your wedding, the more it will be prioritized. If you are less than 9 months out- you still have time, it just allows breathing room. Once you are less than 5 months away, you are looking often at costly rush fees, or buying off the rack! But still totally doable.
